Hyman Coren: Go to eBay. Find a cell phone that is a GSM style phone (that requires a SIM card). Phones made for T-Mobile's network are good. AT&T phones are OK, but you need to make sure the phone is *unlocked* for use on either network. You can find a lot of low-cost, reliable devices there. Flip phones are perfect.Go to T-Mobile and sign up for their no-contract plan. You bring the phone, they set up the account and give/send you a SIM card.
