Rubi Romo: Yes, you can be homeschooled (it's called home education here in the UK). The only thing you've got to have is willing parents. If you're in England, Wales or NI then it's simple; your parent just has to write to your current school telling them to take your name off the school register. If you're in Scotland things are a bit more complicated cuz your parents have to contact your local authority first before pulling you out of school. In England though it is just one letter and you're done; you're now a 'homeschooler'. There's a template your parent can use if/when they wish to on the Eductaion Otherwise website @ http://www.educationotherwise.net/index.php?option...Once you give your deregistration letter to your school, you and your parents are effectively on your own as far as your education goes. Your parents have to source, organise and pay for everything you need, including any exams you want to take. If you were to want to do a GCSE-level qualification a! s a home educated kid, you'd have to do IGCSEs (International GCSEs). IGCSEs are also favoured by private schools and grammar schools over GCSEs so it's no problem. There are companies such as Oxford and Wolsey Hall that will sell you everything you need and there are online schools you can join such as Inter HIgh and the British E-school (current fees are about £3,000 a year) or you and your parents can simply go it alone and study whatever you want to study. The only rule is that your parents have to provide you with a "suitable education that is appropriate to your age, abilities and aptitudes" but that can mean pretty much anything as long as you are doing something. Home educated kids do *not* have to follow the National Curriculum (or any other curriculum if you don't want to) -- we're outside of the school system (hence it is home education and not home schooling in the UK) therefore we don't have to do any of the things that kids in school have to do. The governmen! t has its own Guidelines for Elective Home Education online, h! ttp://media.education.gov.uk/assets/files/pdf/e/g... , but basically it is a long list of things home educated kids don't have to do (!)Oxford @ http://www.oxfordhomeschooling.co.ukWolsey Hall @ http://wolseyhalloxford.org.ukInter HIgh @ http://www.interhigh.co.ukBritish E-School @ http://www.briteschool.co.uk...Show more
