3 year old ready for preschool?

Donny Bankson: Many of the malls have reading for preschool and plays you need to check your local mall for occurrences. Also the library has reading for children depending on their schedules usually something on saturdays and after school some days. Some parks have dance programs and gymnastics for preschool, you need to call and check availability.

Robbie Starchman: Check the information for your city. There are often free or low-cost activities and classes for children. If you qualify, there may be special programs for those with low incomes as well.

Andra Oger: Its quite understandable that your financial position doesnt allow you to put your daughter in pre school. In order to divert her mind, try showing her the negative things- discipline, homework, etc. get her do exercises in writing, reading. ask her to recite poems (give her difficult ones), and tell her that she'll be asked to do all this at prep school.moreover, try teaching her yourself, maybe s! he'll learn that ways and her mind will get diverted....Show more

Jestine Osumi: At this age, preschool is totally unnecessary for a typically-developed child. Find a library story time, or parks programs for preschoolers. Look into city parks dance or gym classes (sometimes cheaper, check the Y too). Our zoo and local museums also offer programs during the month for preschoolers. These are great ways to get your lil one out and socialize with many groups (instead of only one group, school kids). And, she will probably learn far more doing these activities than what she would learn in 'school'. Nothing beats exploring your world, and getting out in the community allows for these opportunities. Our preschool goes by the public school calender meaning 3 by July 31st, so she could not start this year. Other preschools may be different. There is no real lasting benefit of two years or more of preschool. Go ahead and let her be a child, and if anything preK the year before! Kindergarten. Our lil guy is in karate this January through t! he parks ($20), Library story time is free, toddler gym $12 a month every Monday, and we found a home-school co-op that has a 3 hour preschool class on Fridays. I just volunteer one day a month, $10 a month. Just enough for him to explore his world and meet friends....Show more

Ervin Overbee: The simplest is to get together with a few other moms or dads with kids around her age and arrange play dates where all the kids spend an hour or two at one child's house, playing under that one adult's supervision. The kids get used to being dropped off, get to experience social interaction, the parents get a little free time, and it's all free. Wins all around!
