Jodie Capella: They might sound OK depends on how particular you are...but Piezo tweeters usually sound shrill, those speakers are made for large public areas where there is quite a bit of background noise to cut through and they have handles for moving from one place to the next on a moments notice for $300 dollars you could get speakers that are made for and sound better in a home theater, take a look at Fluance speakers, they actually get good ratings for sound quality especially at that price level also BIC speakers of America a really top quality speaker would be Energy speakers....the Energy CB 20 and the whole CB line is really a good speaker and can be bought for less that $350 a pair many places on line....also take a look at Energy Take speakers for smaller rooms and receivers by Pionner Onkyo Denon.....if you want something really inexpensive but still sounds marginally good take a look at the Dayton B-652 this may be the one for you........Show more
Marh! ta Teahan: In truth - you cannot read the specs and really tell how a speaker will sound (can you read the ingredients on a can of Coke vs 7-up and tell which will taste better?)But those speakers, the un-usually high upper power limits and the long list of uses tell me these are crap speakers marketed to the young-and-dumb crowd.Look - I can try to educate you on all the things you need to know to not get ripped off. But it would take a while. My advice: go to Amazon. Search for "Onkyo Home Theater". You will find a bunch of systems that will give you the important parts:* Full-sized AV Receiver* Separate self-powered subwoofer* 5 cheap but tone-matched speakersThese systems starting about $400 give you lots of features and when 1 part breaks or you want to upgrade something, you can without tossing the whole thing.Hope this helps....Show more
