Vegetarians, do you eat fish?

Hans Sachetti: No, vegetarians don't eat fish.I'm vegetarian for a variety of reasons. Like you mentioned, it's healthier for me, and more humane. Also, it's better for the environment and could help end world hunger (see the book below).Good luck!

Mozell Sponsler: All I can suggest is your supermarket delivery service... That's what we do. I order the groceries online and have them delivered. Its very convenient as my husband hates to go to the grocery store!!!

Ervin Overbee: You don't have to watch. I don't. But it's her show. If you want her to do vegetarian/vegan write the food network. Enough mail and they will take notice.

Queenie Ruthers: It's easier to answer your second question first...People become vegetarians for many different reasons. For many people, eating meat is wrong because it involves cruelty to animals. Different people have different ideas about animal rights, and if someone believes that animals deserve the same consideration as h! uman beings, then chances are they would be vegetarians. Some other people do it for health reasons. Usually a vegetarian diet is lower in fat than a meat diet, and also has alot of vegetables, whole grains, and a wider variety of proteins.Other people also do it for the environment. Raising animals for slaughter is having a really negative impact on the environment -- more food sources (such as grains and soy) are being taken up to feed the animals than the food that the animals provide. So that food that is given to the animals takes alot of energy to produce, and then slaughtering the animal takes up even more energy that could be avoided. Even beyond food resources, 1/3 of fossil fuel consumption in the US goes to raising animals. As for your first question, some vegetarians do eat fish, but then they are usually called 'pescetarians'. Just like why people choose to be vegetarians for different reasons, people choose to eat fish for different reasons. Some people believe! that fish may not have the same capacity for pain as animals,! so then maybe it isn't so bad to kill them for food. For other people, fish is a very healthy form of meat... the fat in fish is a 'healthy' fat, so it's not as bad as eating a fatty steak. Also, eating fish isn't as harmful to the environment as eating beef or chicken.Anyways, hope that helped!...Show more

Edmund Rappley: Of course! It lives, breathes, moves, and has a face just like any other animal! My reason for being a vegetarian is I don't need innocent animals to satisfy my hunger needs. I am an animal lover.

Tobie Oshea: Dear gods, you must not be allowed to reproduce.

Rheba Cockman: That is called a demi-vegetarian!

Long Woltjer: I see where you are coming from. I love watching cook shows and while many of them use meat, it is interesting to watch how they prepare the sides, marinades, etc. I can usually adapt the recipe for my vegan diet.I used to watch Rachael Ray because she uses a lot of garlic. I love garlic and figured I could fin! d some good ideas - seems like she is always making salads and pastas and whatnot. One day, she used veal as part of her main dish. From that day on, I have not watched her. Meat is one thing...but VEAL? Seriously? I draw the line there. She might as well have used foire gras! That's extreme cruelty. I won't tolerate that on my television. So no. You're not alone!...Show more

Adelle Weight: I've seen several shows where she has made only vegetarian dishes, but it's true her show is geared more towards meat eaters.

Brice Greczkowski: No, vegetarians don't eat ANY animal flesh or by products of animal slaughter. You'd have to be a dunce to think otherwise cause it's spelled out right here by the Vegetarian Society. V-e-g-e-t-a-r-i-a-n Society. See how that works? They INVENTED THE WORD! It looks like somebody's carrot only diet is catching up with them.

Ramon Dahlheimer: No! are you serious? fish is still meat. just think about poor little creatures already ! being killed by pollution.

Vernon Martorana: Vegetarians do not, ! in fact, eat fish. I do, but I consider myself a pescatarian, not a vegetarian. I became vegetarian because I saw some of the horrible things they did to animals to kill them for food, but now meat just kind of grosses me out.

Oren Eskelsen: I don't eat fish or anything that has a face. But that is my choice. Each person has to make their own choices, based on belief and lifestyle. Sometimes it is easier to stop eating everything right away and other people to do it gradually. As long as you make positive changes that you believe in don't worry about the labels.I started my vegetarian quest because of health reasons. My reasons continue to evolve and I feel passionately about not killing animals and better understanding how my lifestyle impacts the earth. I love being a vegetarian....It is my 15th year!...Show more

Veta Slicker: It seems most chefs veer towards the mainstream of preparing meat. Probably because they also are meat eaters and most people are! meat eaters. Write to some of these networks and tell them you want a Vegetarian cooking show. They could do at least one.

Jen Maday: Most people eat meat and that's just how it is. She probably wouldn't be as successful if she didn't cater to the meat-eaters. And Capitalizing Every Word Like This makes you look dumb.

Lashawnda Anteby: I even have been a Schwans shopper for years now... no longer purely have they provided me with nutrients that are much less time eating yet they have common recipes and run specials. They supply in my section each 2 weeks, uncertain if that's easy or no longer. I in many circumstances order on line so as that i'm assured my products whilst the truck provides you. there is yet another corporation that's linked with Schwans that mail your food (packed in dry ice) talked approximately as Impromptu gourmand- its alittle extra 'gourmand' yet we've enjoyed their soups and dips. i admire the earnings of them coming to my abode, and the! certainty that there are common nutrients the youngsters could help wi! th. stable success and luxuriate in.!!...Show more

Devon Kalberer: My dad was first vegetarian, and his doctor said he could still eat fish. Although I personally believe it is meat, vegetarians are not supposed to eat things "with faces" (its an old rule of thumb) and apparently, fish aren't on this "face list". I'm not vegetarian, but my dad HAD to become a vegetarian for health reasons.

Vernon Martorana: i have always wondered the same thing about Rachael Ray. I watched ONE episode ONE time because I heard vegan basketballer John Salley was going to be on... she made a chicken fajita or something. I turned the TV off instantly. She is awful

Efren Clankscales: 1. Vegetarians do not eat fish.2. I became a vegetarian for environmental reasons.

Donnell Nocella: some kind of spread- Earth Balance is the best. Sunflower spread, sesame spread, something with fat to use as a base for the bread, then you put things on top before the rest of the sand! wich.

Connie Dickirson: NO.Pescitarians eat chicken and fish, but no. They are in no way a vegetarian. NO. vegetarians do not eat fish.I am a vegan for animal rights, the health benifits are an extra bonus.=)

Leann Villalta: As A Die Hard Vegan I Believe No Animal Should Be Fried, Stewed, Boiled, Or Baked. I Used To Watch Rachel Ray Until I Noticed EveryOne Of Her Shows Geared Towards The MeatEaters Or Cannibals As I Usually Call Them. If She Can Have Guest On Her Show Who Eaither Vegan Or Vegetarian, Why Can't She Have Vegetarian/Vegan Shows? Is There Anyone Who Agrees With Me?Or Am I By Myself?...Show more

Sol Allphin: so some distance as i recognize none sell animal cruelty. some pageon religions sell issues including animal sacrifices. they don't see that as cruelty, yet i assume significant pass lifestyle might. All religions that i recognize of oftentimes sell some sort of appreciate for all living issues. It in simple terms relies upon on the way you! seem at it.

Moira Woodrow: What part don't you get? The turkey, ! the sandwich, or the spread?

Ardelia Liptow: Yes. Most of the world's vegetarians eat fish they are called pescetarians.

Jade Ohno: She is probably saying that because she doesn't think vegetarians get protein and she knows fish has protein. But to answer your question no we do not.And to answer your other question I am a vegetarian (veg@n) for many different reasons. I am because it's healthy, it's cruelty free, and I don't think meat, eggs, or dairy is needed to get protein, good nutrition, and be a functioning intelligent person. And looking at me I am proving myself right!...Show more

Gladys Worthing: typically they do noteating fish is called being a pescetarian, that's what i amno meat EXCEPT fishi chose this route because I live in hawaii and my dad is a fishermanand i need protein

Ayesha Genova: 1) No. Fish are animals just like cows, pigs, hens, and horses. They have a brain and spinal cord; therefore they are able to feel pain. 2) I'm a veg! an because it is more healthy and because I do not support the practice of paying other people to torture, kill, and slice up living beings. In this day and age it is not necessary for humans to eat meat to survive. There are more than enough vegetables, fruits, grains, nuts, beans, and vegan sweets to go around without intentionally harming anything. Also, if everyone were vegan, the grain that is fed to factory farmed animals could be fed to the poor and hungry people all over the globe. Greed and gluttony causes people to not change their ways. I feel in my heart that I can't be a part of something that I disagree with. The way that people treat animals says a lot about the way they treat other humans, so I don't believe that anyone absolutely has to support human rights before they can support animal rights. That argument is just ridiculous. I've been vegan for almost 4 years, and I love every moment of it.Good luck :)...Show more

Cristopher Gavalis: No. She's a p! escetarian.

Tijuana Tatsak: She's a meateater. She creates recipe! s around what she likes. Considering she likes meat, of course her recipes will contain it. However, I have watched one episode of 30 Minute Meals that was geared towards vegetarians, but not vegan. It's her show, and she has a following. So she must appeal to many people.

Tom Romer: Yes, there are many vegetarians that eat fish. They are called pescatarians. It's also pertinent to note that if you do become a pescatarian vegetarian don't let any other vegetarians, or vegans know. hahaThey seem to hate pescatarians even more than meat eaters for some reason. That's why you see so many of the above people telling you that people who eat fish are not vegetarians, yet many dictionary definitions say that vegetarians can eat fish. ...Show more

Adelle Weight: Ok so I was reading online and I found out all the Nutritional Facts about it like Protein/Carb/Fats (IE http://www.fatsecret.com/calories-nutrition/generi... but what is it? Is it something you can just buy in t! he store premade or is it something you make please help lol sorry if this sounds dumb I'm just curious thanks

Joey Mekeel: Schwans is good, and has very good food. I turned vegetarian about a year ago (no fish or egg either. Egg products ok such as cake etc, but no full blown egg dishes). Schwans' vegetarian options are limited. Are there any services like this that offer a good vegetarian menu?much thanks...Show more
