Collin Pelfrey: I think what you might be looking for is "whimsical" art projects. Whimsical in art has come to stand for things that are playful, unpredictable, capricious, light-hearted, amusing, etc, rather than more "conventional" art. That would also include many "art dolls."I'm not sure that the "not kiddie" characterization is quite accurate though... almost any medium (paint, clay, wood, etc.) can be done with less skill and few adult ideas, or with more of those things sometimes even to create "high" art, but the actual *subject* of the created object/image may or may not involve children (...for example, the link you gave shows a sort of "child-oriented" project, but isn't executed like a child would do it).As for suggestions, check out some of the lessons and examples at Craftster (in different category boards), as well as some of the examples of "whimsical art" in these searches:Craftster: http://www.craftster.org/forum ... under the listing of "Craft Forums! Alma Twomey: go to a craft store. stay away from the kid's stuff. pick something that takes s! ome skill, like the real art. (not paint by #'s). you could do! landscapes and still lifes. ceramics is another adult craft. you won't see a child put a ceramic item into a hot kiln!! take a class at local gallery, arts center or high school. this is NOT kiddie art.many crafts can be done by kids. they make the simple stuff. the problem is, in order for a grown up to learn it ,, they have to do the easy stuff first. then advance to the hard stuff. you cannot just start hard stuff without learning the basics first. i am listing stuff that kids do not do....Show more
