Ira Porietis: Typica! lly, states use 49cc as the divider. For instance, in Colorado, 49cc and under require a normal operator's permit (4-wheel car.) For 50cc and up, you are required to have a motorcycle endorsement. Whether you pass a basic rider Motorcycle Safety Foundation type course to go get your endorsement at DMV on your operator's permit or you do it the hard way via DMV only.
