what is sand loam and where can I get it?

Joey Mekeel: Easiest way to get it is to purchase several bags of sand and add it to the soil. To make sandy loam it required 50% to 70% sand added to the soil..and a sand loam has between 50 and 70% sand.http://www.answers.com/topic/loam

Nicolas Cooley: loam is a mixture of sand, clay, silt and humus. A sand loam is the same with a higher proportion of sand. You could use John Innes No 1 compost available from any garden centre or DIY store. I have tried growing ginko from seed before but had no success. I eventually bought one from a nursery for a fiver. If i had done this instead of buying seed i would have saved money.
