Macbook 13 inch first gen or second?

Dwight Siniard: The first generation has a plastic shell, which I hear allows the wireless range to be farther than the aluminum macbook. Also, if you need firewire, you should get the first generation. The second generation macbook lacks firewire, however, it looks cooler with its aluminum and its glass trackpad. The second generation also has a LED screen which is better than the lights in the original macbook.and keyboard backlightling which is good in dark environments. Aluminum also seems more durable and the macbook is made from one solid piece of aluminum, adding to its durability. If you are buying the mac only for the specific hardware and do not care about the new features; or if you need firewire, you should get the first gen.If you care about how the macs look, like LED screens, want better durability, and doesn't need firewire, use the second generation....Show more

Bob Pucella: The 1st gen case comes apart really easy. I know 600 people with it and about! 500 of their cases are coming apart. Those people's macbooks arent even 1 year old yet

Gale Hartt: i would go for the better one because its better!
